Gang's All Here opens on a crowd of painted faces, a cadmium-red hood flaring two blunt ears above a chartreuse-green cousin capped in a striped, black-fringed cone hat. This giclee print reads like a fairground group portrait shot from behind the wheel, row after row of children's ride vehicles nosed together, ochre-gold panels riveted and strung with a bulb-lit light rail that would blink after dark.
A gilt floral medallion, two red glass gems set at its center, catches the same flat daylight that flattens a dusty-rose sports car's rear fender, its mock plate stamped SX 1358 like a passport stamp from nowhere real. Cerulean-blue trim threads between the crowd, a white swan-nosed car tucked beside it, steering wheels standing untouched and waiting.
Nothing here moves, yet the whole composition reads mid-arrival. Cars queue nose to tail the way children line up before a gate swings open, cream bulbs cold and ready to be switched on.
