About This Phone Case
Cut reed and bamboo stalks stage a diagonal crossing through this Shin Bijutsukai pattern print, wrapped around your phone in pale cream and emerald green against a black field. The stalks splintering into jagged, blade-like segments that read less like still botanical specimens and more like a woodcut record of wind moving through a stand of cane.
Small clusters of white blossom rise between the crossing lines, their yellow-gold centers catching what little warmth breaks through the dark ground. In the pattern-book design tradition of Meiji Japan, bamboo carried an established symbolic charge for bending without breaking, a reading this composition earns through the stalks' own crossed, angular lines.
Mid-green foliage threads beneath the reed work, softening the sharper cuts of the stalks. What holds the eye is the crossing itself, tan lines laid over black with the patient, hand-cut precision of traditional Japanese textile design, each cut edge holding its own weight within the pattern's grain.
