Alphonse Adolphe Bichard interprets Baron Munchausen’s improbable adventure with precision and humor: the notorious fabulist tethered to wild geese, his body inverted in mid-air, musket strapped to his back, hair swept toward the ground.
The print’s chromatic contrasts—vermilion coat against teal sky, shadowed plumage against pale horizon—create an atmosphere of theatrical improbability that epitomized 19th-century satirical illustration. On this iPhone case, the drama unfolds anew, each line of the lithograph preserved in miniature.
