About the Artist

Casimiro Tomba, a Roman painter renowned for his delicate touch in watercolour, captured scenes of everyday life and evocative Orientalist subjects with quiet elegance. Though modestly celebrated during his lifetime, exhibiting frequently in Rome, Turin, and Bologna, Tomba remains a hidden gem of early 20th-century Italian genre painting.

His meticulous works, richly detailed and gracefully executed, often explore serene, intimate moments. In 1928, he authored and illustrated the charming book Via Margutta e gli artisti, highlighting Rome’s vibrant artistic community.

Today, his luminous watercolours endure as gentle reminders of a painter who transformed ordinary scenes into timeless poetry.
