Altan Jinong holds the camera's gaze with the stillness of Ordos lineage. A young Mongol prince of the Yeke Juu banners imagined as heir apparent to a title carried since Kublai Khan's grandson kept watch over Genghis Khan's mausoleum on the Kherlen grass. Long before the Ordos plateau became its home.
His hat rises in dense cream fox fur, a nuanmao winter crown fringed in gold tassel work, the mark of Qing-era rank worn by Inner Mongolian nobility after the dynasty drew Ordos into its outer vassal system. Beneath the brim his gaze holds calm authority, warm skin lit against black brocade patterned in ochre peony and chrysanthemum scrollwork.
Coral and pearl strands cross a mandarin collar of dull gold silk, anchored by a carved medallion the size of a coin, jade-pale cabochons catching low candle-warm light. His red silk robe, dense with metallic thread, carries queer sovereignty into a Qing-adjacent court. Gay lineage rewrites a gaze once denied it, cast now in full, unguarded light. Destined for walls that finally welcome him whole.
