About Karst Stone Paper™
Karst Stone Paper is just... better. Why? Well, it's possible to make paper without waste. Without chlorine or acid. Without water. Without trees. Made from recycled stone and without any bleaches, acids, or trees, Karst Stone Paper is rebuilt from first principles to be better. That means more durable, more sustainable. Karst paper products feel like smooth stone, but with the subtlety of linen - they're cool to the touch and warm to the eye. As strong as stone, yet sometimes lighter than paper - ideal for journals that last a lifetime. Karst is also uncoated, so you can write on it with any kind of pen, including Sharpies.
Karst is the superior alternative to traditional paper notebooks. It uses no trees, water, waste, acids or bleaches to produce, and it requires 60% less energy to manufacture than traditional paper. Karst's 144 pages are waterproof, tear proof and impossibly smooth. Karst is also one of the hardiest notebooks you'll ever use. Its pages are impervious to water, oil and grease, making it the perfect notebook for the outdoorsman or anyone who needs a durable notebook. Karst's smooth pages are also ideal for writing, drawing or sketching. Whether you're a student, a professional or an artist, Karst is the perfect notebook for you.
A superior alternative to traditional pulp paper. A sustainable alternative to wood pulp paper. With an impossibly smooth writing experience made from recycled materials. Plus, an all around great product for art and design process sketches, or finished work — ready to be framed.

Karst stone paper sheets are unlike any other paper you've ever drawn on. Completely friction-free — pens glide across Karst pages because there is no grain direction, and ink never bleeds through the pages either. The result is a truly pleasurable writing experience for notebook afficionados and lover's of quality over quantity.
Karst paper is made from recycled stone, so it's not exactly... printed. Not in the way we're used to, but the way Karst does things is environmentally friendly, as well as smooth to write on. So we say, printed-shminted.
The best idea wins. And if you're looking for the perfect paper for calligraphy, drawing, or just general writing, a Karst stone paper notebook is your new best friend. Give one a try today. See how smoothly your pen glides across your Karst stone paper notebook.
Karst is excited to introduce a new kind of paper made from calcium carbonate - Karst stone paper. This natural material has many benefits over traditional paper made from wood pulp. Karst stone paper is completely waterproof, so your morning coffee can't ruin your eureka moment, and the rain can't steal your thunder.
Karst Stone Paper is also made from calcium carbonate, a repurposed construction waste. This means Karst stone paper is not only recycled, but upcycled. And because calcium carbonate is a natural material, each batch of Karst stone paper is unique.
So why not try something new and switch to Karst stone paper?
Our quest for the best pen to use with Karst stone paper notebooks took us down many rabbit holes. We tried everything from fountain pens to ballpoints to needle points, and nothing seemed to be quite right.
While Karst stone paper is tear-resistant, it does not do well with a sharp pencil point.
Fountain pens skipped and took forever to dry, ballpoints pushed too hard on the soft paper, and needle points like the Hi Tec C caught on the paper and even created a hole!
Gel ink rollerball pens work well, as they don't skip or create any holes. However, we noticed some smudging with these pens.
Overall, we think plain 'n' simple eco ballpoint pens or pencils are the best option for use with Karst Stone Paper notebooks.
