Hot Tresses hair care products are made with natural performance ingredients that aim to improve hair health, reduce dependency on heat styling, and stimulate hair growth.
Some of the key ingredients in their products include:
- French Green Clay: Rich in minerals and healing elements, it helps remove dead skin cells, draw out impurities, and stimulate new hair growth from the roots.
- Ylang Ylang Oil: Stimulates hair growth and adds volume.
- Hemp Protein Extract: Boosts keratin levels and strengthens the hair shaft.
- Coconut Oil: Hydrates and smooths hair, eliminating frizz.
- Pawpaw Enzymes (Papain): Actively cleanse, exfoliate, detox, and stimulate the scalp.
- Castor Seed Oil: Gives hair a full and lustrous appearance, reducing the need for heat styling.
- Quinoa Protein: Penetrates the hair, strengthening it from the cortex and along the surface.
In addition to the natural performance ingredients, Hot Tresses also has a "no nasties" ingredient blacklist, which means their products do not contain animal derivatives, parabens, or long-chain silicones. This makes their products suitable for those looking for a more natural and eco-friendly hair care solution.
The Hot Tresses Method: How It Works
Hot Tresses's innovative approach to hair care centers around three essential steps: Cleanse, Unravel, and Heal. Each step is meticulously designed to provide your hair with the care it truly deserves, while also aligning with our commitment to vegan, cruelty-free, and sulfate-free formulations.
1. Cleanse: Purifying Your Scalp and Hair Shaft
The journey to stunning hair begins with our Hot Tresses Sulfate-Free Rehabilitation Shampoo. This transformative formula is enriched with French green clay and paw paw, working in harmony to detoxify your scalp and purify your hair shafts. By ridding your hair of impurities, you set the stage for optimal absorption of the nourishing goodness that follows.
2. Unravel: Restoring Softness and Manageability
Say goodbye to knots and tangles with our Intensive Hydrating Rehabilitation Conditioner. Infused with a blend of coconut, castor seed, and ylang ylang oils, this conditioner not only unravels knots with ease but also imparts a burst of vegan hemp and quinoa proteins. This power-packed combination ensures your hair receives the care it needs, resulting in strands that are softer, smoother, and more manageable.
3. Heal: Nourishing from Roots to Ends
Completing the trio is our Moisturizing Rehabilitation Leave-In Treatment. As you apply this light-weight treatment to wet hair, you're embarking on a healing journey. This formulation, enriched with coconut, castor seed, and ylang ylang oils, along with complete vegan hemp and quinoa proteins, nurtures your hair from roots to ends. With a focus on air-drying, you're granting your hair the space it needs to rejuvenate naturally, without the harsh touch of heat styling.

I am newly vegan and have been looking for a good vegan shampoo. This shampoo has quality ingredients such as pawpaw papaya extract, castor oil, rosemary oil, sage extract, lavender oil, and much more. The combination of ingredients does make a difference in my hair. My hair feels very moisturized and very clean. The shampoo lathers rather well and washes off well. It has kind of a floral scent, which is not my favorite scent. The scent is rather light and not overwhelming. Overall, I am very pleased with this shampoo and I plan to keep using it.

The ingredients have changed a little since Hot Tresses posted them here in 2017. I'll give the current ones below. I've been happy with this. It washes well with good lather and leaves my hair manageable even without conditioner. The scent is mild, vaguely soapy (probably the lavender) and flowery. The asterisks indicate organic: Australian water [most likely still H2O], disodium laureth sulfosuccinate, sodium lauryl sulfoacetate, acrylates copolymer, sodium lauroyl glutamate, cocoamidopropyl betaine, glycol distearate, cocamide MIPA, French green montmorillonite (clay), Carica papaya (pawpaw or papaya) extract, *Cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, Ricinus communis (castor) seed oil, *Lactobacillus/pumpkin fruit ferment filtrate, *Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil, *Salvia officinalis (sage) leaf extract, *Tilia cordata (linden) flower extract, *Urtica dioica (nettle) extract, *Betula alba (birch) extract, *Equisetum arvense (horsetail) leaf extract, *Achillea millefolium (yarrow) extract, guar hydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, *Lavendula augustifolia (lavender) oil, *Cananga odorata (ylang ylang) flower oil, *Pelargonium graveolens (rose geranium) oil, citric acid, sodium hydroxide, phenoxyethanol, caprylyl glycol, sorbic acid, Natural Yellow 3/turmeric [curcumin] CI 75300.

I had never heard of this brand before, but I love the scent of Ylang Ylang essential oil and am always looking to try new natural brands. My usual shampoo and conditioner are either from lush UK or something from the natural food store that I buy on a whim, so this Australian salon brand with a naturalistic bent seemed right up my alley. I'm really glad I took a chance and tried this. The fragrance is very clean and natural and is unobtrusive, and the shampoo works exceptionally well, cleansing thoroughly yet leaving my long hair moisturized and smooth. I really appreciate all of the things that it doesn't have, and how non-irritating it is to my scalp. It's hard to find a shampoo that cleanses without making my wavy hair frizzy, but this really did the trick. Used with their rehab conditioner, this truly is an effective set that I can imagine being good on a variety of hair types. And did I mention how much I love the light, natural scent? Definitely not overwhelming, and I say this as a person with fragrance allergies.
